Florida summer feels extra hot this year, so I fell through my own private portal to escape to Florida Spring country, using Getaway Gilchrist Springs, just 2 hours north of Tampa Bay, as my home base.
This is the perfect location for a mermaid-inspired getaway because within just a few minutes drive of my tiny cabin, I was able to visit 3 springs and a waterfall! (Yes, Florida has waterfalls).

- A Waterfall Hike at Devil’s Millhopper Geological State Park
- A Hike at Paynes Prairie State Park to see wild bison herd
