Earlier this year we hosted Senna Kerr and her family who escaped to Getaway Asheboro for a little retreat in nature. Here’s what she had to say about their experience.
I escaped with my husband and our daughters. We have a 6 week old, 2 year old and 5 year old all of whom enjoyed themselves. My oldest daughters loved the bunks and having a cozy space to read and even my 6 week old was very alert and showed lots of smiles in between naps.
Although most of our trip was pretty rainy being inside the cabin with the gloomy weather was so so cozy and dreamy. My husband and I enjoyed spending some real one on one time with our girls and listening to them giggle and laugh as they got see squirrels right in front of them!
This was our first outpost and we were IN LOVE! The vibe was so incredibly cozy and just an overall dreamy experience. I plan on visiting all outposts in every location with my daughters. We homeschool and spend a lot of time learning outside through nature, so I think these other locations are going to make for some really great field trips! I have so many magic moments but my all time favorite was probably when the rain stopped, we went outside for s’mores and painting rocks. It was great to spend some real quietly time as a family with no distractions.
I could feel my heart grow big and happy during our stay. Like I literally was just smiling the whole trip taking in every moment. I felt amazing the be present and practicing mindfulness as I took everything in. We spent our free time watching the rain with a cozy cup of tea all cuddles up together in the cabin. Once the rain stopped, we headed outside for a nature walk and skipping rocks on the lake. We then found some nice ones to paint and ended the evening with s’mores!
If you’re considering a Getaway, I would say absolutely do it, yes! It’s an amazing retreat and so nice to just escape from everyday life. Being out in nature is so healing and Getaway was truly a 10/10 experience.
