Our recent trip with Postcard Cabins was exactly what our family needed. With the busyness of raising a baby and work life stress, being able to unplug from our routine and focus on what matters most is crucial. There is nothing more that we love than traveling and being out in nature with our family. Getting the opportunity to visit several outposts gave us the adventure we longed for, while still allowing us to rest, slow down, and connect as a family. We had the best time exploring local restaurants, parks, and destinations. The highlight of our trip was definitely the relaxing mornings around the fire having a cup of coffee. We cannot wait for our next getaway adventure!

Who were your travel buddies for this road trip
My travel buddies for this trip was my beautiful wife Megan and our 8 month old son Ellis!

What was your route
We departed east from Nashville to Dale Hollow on day 1, Headed down south through Georgia to Chattahoochee on day 2, and across the border into South Carolina for Lake Hartwell on day 3.
What were a few of your favorite stops along the way?
Some of our favorite stops were the antique stores in Celina, TN, Our hike to Sea Creek Falls in Suches, GA, and the beautiful Hart County Botanical Gardens.
What was the inspiration behind your playlist
I am firm believer that no road trip is complete without the proper playlist. Knowing that we were going to be driving through the back roads of TN, GA, and SC I knew I wanted a mix of old school country, folk, and classic rock. My favorite song the playlist is definitely “All I Want Is You” by Barry Louis Polisar. Imagine driving past golden cow pastures, small town buildings, on a sunny afternoon. It’s impossible to listen to that song without smiling.

Any tips on how to travel as a family with a baby?
As a professional parent, with my long 8 months of experience, I am no expert on babies. However, my wife and I decided early on that we were going to travel with our family when we had kids. We’ve done several road trips with our son since he was born and thankfully he’s always been a good traveler. I think he’s already seen 5 or 6 states so far. Obviously ever baby is different so parents might have a harder time than us.
If I could give one tip it would be to try to stick to a routine as much as you can. Whether thats morning naps, or bedtime, the more consistent you can be with sleeping or eating patterns the better! Also a noise machine! It’s a life saver and literally goes with us everywhere.
Did you have a favorite part of each Outpost you visited?
Yes, they are all so different! In Dale Hollow we loved the view we had out of our cabin window. At Chattahoochee we had a field of wild flowers right behind our cabin where I went out to pick a little bouquet for my wife in the morning. Lake Hartwell was definitely the most peaceful, being a newer outpost and the timing of our stay we felt like we had the whole place to ourself.

How did it feel to disconnect and reconnect to nature at Postcard Cabins?
Being able to disconnect from work and everyday tasks around the house with a baby was so refreshing. We really try to prioritize being outside together as a family. I spend way to much of my life editing on a computer, there is nothing better than relaxing around a campfire and having s’mores at night.
