We recently hosted creator and new mom, Amy Zhang @theluxilook, at Postcard Cabins Big Bear for a quiet weekend in nature. Read on to discover how Amy and her family spent their getaway.

As a new mom, I’ve been looking forward to introducing my daughter to all of our favorite activities – which include travel and being outside in nature. Postcard Cabins Big Bear was the perfect combination of the two for our first family getaway in nature – right in time for Mother’s Day! Only an hour and a half drive from Los Angeles, we collectively took a moment to breathe the fresh air and take in the impressive scenery when we arrived. We all felt lighter – instantly transported to the calm and peaceful atmosphere that only nature (and no WiFi!) can provide.

We loved being able to pack lightly and disconnect from our busy lives in the city. The tiny cabins have everything you need for a comfortable yet minimal stay – the beds are comfortable, showers come equipped with towels and toiletries, and the kitchen has everything you need to make coffee and campfire friendly meals. We took full advantage of the S’mores kit provide! Postcard Cabins even warmly welcome our dog with treats and a dog bowl!

As far as activities go, we felt so content staying in our tiny cabin and around our campfire. Our 3 month old daughter has also recently started to notice trees – when she wasn’t doing tummy time in front of the window in our cabin, she was napping peacefully amidst the sound of birds chirping and leaves rustling. We also took advantage of the nature walk on the property, as well as the close proximity to Lake Arrowhead and other family friendly hikes nearby.

No itinerary or schedule needed – we felt so comfortable and at ease exploring the grounds and the adorable nearby town of Running Springs. We kept a campfire running day and night when we were at our cabin, and fully soaked up quiet moments as a family. Becoming a mom has made me so aware of how quickly time goes and how precious family is. I appreciate the little things so much more and do my best to be present in every moment – one of the best ways to do is to take time away from devices and get outside.
Postcard Cabins is the ideal family getaway that allows the everyone to put their devices down and take a moment to create new memories together. The weekend was just what we needed to go back to our day to day lives feeling more refreshed and connected as a family. It certainly won’t be our last time visiting Postcard Cabins!
