Located in Roscoe, NY, Postcard Cabins Western Catskills sits only five minutes from Pepacton Reservoir, right between the Cherry Ridge Wild Forest and the Delaware Wild Forest. While there’s plenty of exploring to be done around our new location, here are a few of the spots we’d recommend you check out while you’re on your escape.
Note that the Pepacton Reservoir is open for recreational use between Memorial Day and Columbus Day, and anyone interested in fishing and boating will need to get the proper permits, and swimming in the reservoir is not allowed.
Walks in the Woods
Trout Pond and Mud Pond Loop
Distance: 7.5 miles
Difficulty: Moderate
Dogs allowed
This is a nice loop around Trout Pond with plenty of beautiful views of the area. This trail is best used between June and October.
Long Pond via Beaverkill Ridge Trail
Distance: 7.2 miles
Difficulty: moderate
Dogs allowed
This loop around Long Pond is a great spot for any botany-enthusiasts—keep your eyes on the hillsides near the trail to spot plenty of beautiful flowers.
Split Rock Lookout via Mary Smith Hill Trail (Pelnor Hollow Trail)
Distance: 2.4 mi
Difficulty: moderate
Dogs allowed
This out and back trail is a shorter option with some views of the ridge in the Delaware Wild Forest near Roscoe and Rockland.
