My name is Callie and I am a full-time photographer, wife, and mother. I recently rebranded my company from Captured by Callie to Sunrise Media Co because I really wanted to reflect the positivity and light that photography can bring into people’s lives by capturing beautiful and warm memories to carry with them for the rest of time. I mainly shoot weddings, couples and portraits, but I rarely turn anything away because I love the adventure of trying something new.
I grew up in a very small town and always loved having a larger property with plenty of space, trees, grass, and everything that comes with nature. My favorite smell in the world is the smell right before rain came around, and I would sit on our porch and wait for it for hours. Coming to this cabin gave me a sense of nostalgia, and though it didn’t rain I did have an amazing experience being out in nature and enjoying it for the first time in what felt like forever. These feelings are what I always want to bring to my sessions, and my specialty is natural light and nature-based settings and locations. I want people to enjoy the beautiful creations the world has to offer, and bask in the warmth of the sunlight and just glow with love and pride and all the feelings they should feel when looking back at their photos and remembering these big moments of their lives.
Though it is one of my greatest prides in life, photography consumes a lot of my life and I often struggle to find the line between business and personal time. In the midst of busy season shooting session after session, and feeling a heavy separation from my family, I found Getaway and decided to dedicate some time with my family without the heavy distractions of work and life.
When we got to the cabin, I immediately felt a sense of relief and was finally able to wind down and enjoy watching my daughter experience snow for the first time, cook over an open campfire, breathe in the crisp non-city air, and enjoy the seclusion and privacy we can never find at our apartment in the middle of downtown DFW.
I absolutely wanted to bring my cameras to capture these moments with my own family, and am so glad I did. We spent hours outside, hanging out, eating fire-roasted meals, cuddling up, listening to music, talking about life, and reconnecting with each other. Our daughter was incredibly curious and wanted to explore all around our campsite and play, and it was so fun watching her discover things we could never find near our home in the city. It was so incredibly important that I found a space where I could prioritize them and enjoy a few days without worrying about what I have to do for work, and it was the absolute perfect recharge for when I came back. I can’t wait to go again, and am absolutely considering making it a regular getaway for the whole family. We loved everything Getaway had to offer and couldn’t ask for a better experience.
