A City Dog’s Guide to Getaway

This summer we hosted Leia from Boston and her owners at Getaway Blake Brook outside of Boston, so they could escape the city and reconnect to nature. Here’s what they had to say about their Getaway.

In the hustle and bustle of city life it can be difficult to truly enjoy time spent with your dog. If you’re not dashing out for a quick walk between meetings, you’re leaving your pup for a few hours while you join friends for dinner. Getting away with your dog can often be just what you both need.

Here is a city dog’s guide to recharging and reconnecting with your furry best friend.

Start the morning slow

Don’t worry about hitting snooze on this trip when there is no rush to get the day started. With the comfort and beauty of nature right outside the window it’s the perfect opportunity to sip your coffee slowly and get a few extra puppy cuddles in before going out to explore.

Take an adventure

Take the opportunity to get active with your dog. Enjoy a nice hike to a beautiful summit or a loop trail that might have some swimming along the way. Whatever you decide, make sure to pack plenty of water and extra treats for both humans and dogs to stay fueled up.

Relax by the campfire

Nothing is more relaxing than listening to the crackling of a campfire and that distinct smell of summertime. Grab a book, a cold drink and cozy up by the fire together.

Explore the local area

Whether it’s taking a walk through a quaint small town or stopping in at a local brewery. You’ll find that many places welcome your dogs with treats and smiles along the way.

In the end it’s your escape into nature with your best friend. Make it a memorable one and don’t forget to enjoy not only the peacefulness of the space you’re in but the love for the quality time spent together.
